RABIES VACCINATION - DOGS ONLY: PROOF of a current rabies vaccination must be provided. Please note, even if your dog is wearing a rabies tag, the vaccination may not be current, (the tag does not display the expiration date). If you cannot show proof that your dog is current on rabies, a vaccination can be given to your dog at the City of Eugene Clinic, located in the same building, for a cost of $15.00.
The City Clinic is open from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. If you come in to the shelter to redeem your dog after the clinic is closed and your dog's rabies is not current, the dog would have to stay at the shelter until a rabies vaccination could be provided for your dog. A $10.00 boarding fee may apply for each additional "overnight" stay.
If your dog has been involved in a bite or any other serious incidents, some other restrictions may apply. You may also be subject to citation(s) for violation(s) of the animal code.
FAILURE TO REDEEM
Pursuant to Eugene Code Section 4.390(9) and Lane Code Section 7.0658(8), failure to redeem your animal could result in a citation being issued to you. The maximum penalty for City of Eugene residents is $500.00. Residents that live in unincorporated Lane County could recieve a fine of up to $816.00. Failure to redeem your animal could result in it being adopted or euthanized.
