STD Screening - What to expect at your visit
What to expect at your visit depends on the type of STD services you need or want, and whether or not you have any symptoms that day.
A visit usually includes:
- Conversation (interview)
- Lab tests (such as blood, urine and/or vaginal, anal or throat swabs)
- A brief exam if you have symptoms or concerns
Gonorrhea and Chlamydia may not show up on a test for 14 days after a possible exposure. HIV and Syphilis may not show up for 3 months, but can show up as early as 2 weeks.
