Lane County Disposal Site: Short Mountain
Lane County offers a full compliment of free recycling options at all transfer stations. This can save customers money when they separate recyclables from the trash they must pay to dispose of.  Recycling also reduces pollution and protects our planet for our children's future.

Tip:  Load your vehicle recycling last so you can do your recycling before you get to the fee booth. (don't forget to cover your load -it is against the law to litter roadways)

Tip:  In severe weather, phone ahead to the site you wish to visit to be sure it's open.

Please note:  Lane County transfer sites observe the following national holidays: New Year's Day, MLK Birthday, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

State law prohibits garbage disposal of the following items: (recycling options exist)

Short Mountain Landfill, Lane County's only municipal solid waste landfill, is located eight miles south of Eugene on Interstate 5.

The landfill is open to approved commercial waste haulers only; no public accommodations exist at Short Mountain.
