Why are you letting inmates go with violent offenses, when there are inmates with non-serious crimes being held in jail?
We currently have an inmate housing contract with the City of Eugene, where-in Eugene rents beds at the Lane County jail for the purpose of holding Eugene Municipal Court offenders. Eugene currently contracts for 15 beds; these beds are not subject to over-crowding releases. These are beds that, if not for Eugene, would be closed due to a lack of funding. Renting beds to Eugene and other agencies helps to offset the jail's overhead costs. The funds that would have been used for overhead help to keep more jail beds open.
