General Information
The Lane County Public Health (LCPH) department operates under Health and Human Services of Lane County. LCPH oversees the following programs and services: Communicable Disease, Emergency Preparedness & Response, Environmental Health, HIV & Hepatitis Prevention, Immunization Clinic, Maternal & Child Health, Physical Activity & Nutrition, STD Clinic, Tobacco Prevention & Education and the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Supplement Program.
Public health is based on science and focuses on population groups rather than on the individual. It emphasizes preventing illness and injury rather than treating a medical condition that has already occurred.
