Weddings:
Oregon Revised Statute 106.120 authorizes marriages by a Justice of the Peace. If the Justice of the Peace performs the wedding ceremony at the courthouse during the open hours of the court there is no fee for the service. Appointments for weddings are required. Please contact the court at 541-682-2095 and tell the clerk you would like to schedule a wedding.
If a wedding ceremony is performed at a place other than the courthouse and/or outside of the normal working hours, a fee is required. Fee information may include mileage expense. A wedding is not considered "scheduled" until the fee is paid to the court.
A valid Oregon marriage license is required and can be purchased at the office of the County Clerk. Lane County Deeds and Records is located at 125 East Eighth Avenue in Eugene OR. They sell wedding licenses, and can be reached at 541-682-3653. Please check with Deeds and Records for questions about the marriage license process.
The wedding couple must bring the valid Oregon license, along with two witnesses to the wedding ceremony. Guests are allowed and photos may be taken. Please check in at the front counter of the court at least a couple of minutes prior to the time of your ceremony.
If you have a special ceremony (perhaps you have written your own vows), please speak with the Judge about your requested ceremony when you schedule your wedding. Most wedding ceremonies take about five minutes, and the Judge has several ceremony choices available.
