2012-2013 Lane County Budget Adopted
The Lane County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt the 2012-2013 budget at a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners, this afternoon (June 25, 2012). The vote was 3- 2 with Commissioners Peter Sorenson and Rob Handy opposed. The budget total is $482.2 million with 1,277.93 full time equivalent (FTE) employees, which is a decrease of $98.9 million and 188.33 FTE from the current budget year. Commissioners had to adopt the budget by June 30, 2012, for the new budget year which begins on July 1, 2012 and runs through June 30, 2013. After the budget was approved by the Lane County Budget Committee, there were changes totaling $713,005 across all funds. In other business, the Board voted 3-2 to authorize Lane County Administrator Liane Richardson to continue to negotiate a contract with Greenhill Humane Society for the matter of sheltering and animal adoption services. Lane County Animal Services is closing on June 30. There will be no sheltering services after Saturday for stray animals found or turned over to authorities in Lane County, unless a contract with Greenhill is reached.
