Lane County Seeks to Woo New Businesses at Pendleton Conference
Lane County is seeking to woo new businesses to the area at a conference with company site selectors in Pendleton last week. The conference, SiteLink, is more akin to a speed-dating session than a traditional business conference, offered an opportunity for the County to learn more about what site-selectors are looking for and pitch company representatives on the benefits of the area.
“This was a great opportunity for Lane County to showcase our assets in an effort to bring new businesses and jobs to our area,” said Sarah Mizejewski, Lane County economic development officer. “SiteLink gave us a quick opportunity to get to know decision makers and give them enough information to know Lane County and potentially seek us out in their future expansion and relocation opportunities.”
The SiteLink forum was established to help approximately 65 attendees meet with seven site selectors. There are approximately 250 site selectors nationwide. Site selectors are hired by companies seeking to expand or relocate operations, They help find the best fit for the particular business. The conference featured short meetings with site selectors in which attendees were able to make a pitch and receive feedback.
“Lane County has a lot to offer businesses. We have a skilled workforce, a major transportation corridor, abundant water and electricity at very reasonable rates and a great quality of life,” said Means-Mizejewski. “We are definitely competitive with other areas.”
