Activities Performed in Traffic Engineering and Safety is in the Transportation Planning and Traffic Division of Lane County Public Works. This section also includes the Signing and Striping Shop and the County Traffic Electrician. Services include:
Design and draft traffic engineering specifications for contracted road projects and overlays:
Striping Plans
Signing Plans
Signalized Traffic Intersections
School Crossings
Bicycle and Pedestrian Paths and Crossings
Perform Average Daily Traffic Counts on selected County Roads, mostly arterial and collector roads
Perform Special Traffic Counts to gather information regarding speed and vehicle types for overlay and road projects
Perform Special Traffic Counts for Speed Studies
Perform Fatal Crash investigations and maintain the Traffic Crash Record system
Work with citizens who request information or who have concerns about speed zones, traffic control at intersections, street signs, deer signs, and guardrails
Maintain county owned electrical signals and street lights
