This instruction will help participants: gain an understanding of conflict resolution and mediation theory; prepare for mediation; create a safe and comfortable environment for the mediation; facilitate effective communication; use techniques that help participants solve problems and seek agreement; conduct mediation in a fair and impartial manner; understand mediator confidentiality and ethical standards for mediator conduct adopted by Oregon and national organizations; conclude a mediation; and memorialize understandings and agreements. This training meets Chief Justice Order No. 05-028, Section 3.2 and Community Dispute Resolution Center requirements for 30-hour Basic Mediation Curriculum.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE: Professionals interested in providing mediation services to clients; those working to meet State requirements as a court-connected mediator; professionals and volunteer mediators wanting to better serve clients by enhancing working knowledge of mediation.

ATTENDANCE: Class is from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. You must attend all day, every day (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) in order to earn a Certificate of Completion. There will be no make-up time. CLE application to be submitted.
