Forestland Classification Program

Lane County Forestland Classification
Forestland classification is a process by which a county committee studies all lands within the Oregon Department of Forestry’s (ODF) fire protection district boundaries to determine which lands are "forestland".
"Forestland" means any woodland, brushland, timberland, grazing land or clearing that, during any time of the year, contains enough forest growth, slashing or vegetation to constitute, in the judgment of the forester, a fire hazard, regardless of how the land is zoned or taxed.
The Lane County Forestland Classification Committee has classified all lands in Lane County within the Western Lane Protection District and South Cascade Protection District, Eastern Lane Unit.  The proposed Forestland Classification can be viewed on Lane County’s Zone and Plan Maps.  (To view, you must turn on the “Proposed Forestland Classification” layer in the table of contents)
