A coalition of organizations and agencies dedicated to sustainability, with support from the City of Eugene Cultural Services Downtown Program Fund Grant, is proud to announce Re-Imagine Earth Day, an inspiring, action-oriented community event.
The event will be a capstone event for Food Waste Prevention Week, which runs from April 7-13.
Join Waste Wise Lane County, MECCA, BRING, Shift Community Cycles, City of Eugene Waste Prevention and dozens more sustainability-focused organizations, artisans, and performers on Sunday, April 13, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion in Downtown Eugene (85 E 8th Ave.) for a unique celebration designed to empower individuals and communities to live more sustainably.
It’s been over a decade since EWEB’s last Earth Day Celebration in Eugene, which brought together public agencies, nonprofits, and entertainment to help the public learn how to live more sustainably.
This dynamic indoor/outdoor event will foster tangible behavior change and provide opportunities to engage, learn, and take meaningful steps toward a healthier planet.

Lane County giving away free compost at upcoming events
Last year, Lane County Waste Management was awarded a USDA grant to support the distribution of 5,000 tons of free food-waste compost to the community. The program aims to serve all Lane County residents and agricultural producers, with a focus on disadvantaged communities.
The program's compost is created from food and yard waste collected in curbside yard waste bins from Eugene, Springfield, and Veneta residents. As gardening season ramps up, there are three upcoming “Free Compost Day” events all residents are invited to attend.
For all the events, come prepared with shovels, buckets, tarps and anything else you need to transport compost! Free compost events will supply bulk compost (unbagged) to Lane County households, up to 1 cubic yard per household, while supplies last.
