The Lane County Board of Commissioners regular, or usual, meeting dates are Tuesday and Wednesday. A “regular meeting” is a meeting where the board handles the usual day to day business of the county. Sometimes there is not a regular meeting because the week is what is referred to as a “down week”. Also depending upon the schedule and nature of board business there may be “special meetings” or “emergency meetings”. These meetings may be scheduled on the same days as a regular meeting during a down week for the board. A special meeting is a meeting of the board called with at least 24 hours of notice to the public to deal with a specific topic. An emergency meeting is a meeting that is called with less than 24 hours of public notice and is in response to an actual emergency. In an emergency meeting the board can only take action on the matter that is the subject of the emergency. All decisions by the board must be taken in a publicly noticed meeting and in a session that is open to the public.
