Lane County Parks will reopen the Orchard Point, Perkins Peninsula, Richardson and Baker Bay day use areas beginning on Wednesday, June 24. The day use areas will close at dusk each day. Currently, those day-use areas are only accessible to pedestrian traffic.

“We know that people are eager to be able to access our most popular day use areas this summer,” said Lane County Parks Manager Brett Henry. “Our parks are great places to spend time with your family and friends; we ask that all visitors continue to practice physical distancing and follow our guidelines for Phase 2.”

As with many annual events, restrictions on large gatherings throughout the state mean that the annual Fourth of July fireworks show at Fern Ridge Reservoir, which is sponsored by Lane County Parks and the Eugene Yacht Club, is canceled.

Park visitors are prohibited from bringing their own fireworks of any kind to Lane County parks.

“We hope to be able to welcome people back next year for the fireworks show,” said Henry. “This year, we encourage people to celebrate the Fourth of July in our parks as long as they leave the fireworks at home.”
