On August 10, 2022, the President signed the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022, commonly referred to as the "PACT" Act. This legislation recognizes the various toxic exposures which service members had in theaters of operation from Vietnam to Afghanistan and seeks to ensure that veterans impacted by those exposures have access to VA health care and that they and their survivors are awarded benefits to help address the resulting disabilities.
VA has an excellent resource to help determine whether a veteran's theater of service is covered by the Act and to determine what health conditions are related to certain toxic exposures from Burn Pits to Agent Orange to Ionizing Radiation.
