Celebrations this month include Arab American Heritage Month, Autism Acceptance Month, and National Deaf History Month. This month we acknowledge the contributions Arab Americans and the Autistic and Deaf communities have made throughout history. We also focus on raising awareness and acceptance while advocating for the wellbeing for those communities. 

 

Equity Program Advisory Board (EPAB) is recruiting members through April 22: The EPAB (formerly known as the Equity & Access Advisory Board) is being restarted. The EPAB collaborates with the County Administrator and the Equity Program on the adoption and implementation of the three-year strategic plan. We are recruiting new members who live within the geographical boundaries of Lane County, with the aim of having at least one representative per district as determined by the most up to date district maps.

    Equity Summit – Tribal Relations and Decolonization on April 17 from 12 to 4 PM at the Lane Community College Longhouse - This training is for Lane County employees who work with tribal communities and those interested in learning more about the history of colonialism and the 4Ls of Indigenous Lifeways: Land, Language, Law/Legend, Love. 

  • Register via LEAP (supervisor approval needed, space limited)
  • A lunch with traditional Native American foods will be provided (gluten free with vegetarian/vegan options available)

 

Equity & Education (E2) Committee Restructured 

  • Updated E2 bylaws - All departments represented, meeting quarterly, and specific roles included as part of the group membership
  • Current workgroups: DEI Competency, Communication Strategy, and more to come following board approval for Equity Strategic Plan
