A Special District Election will be held on Tuesday, May 20 2025.

Candidate and Voters' Pamphlet Filing Information and Important Dates:

  • February 8th, 2025 – Notice of Election and Open Position List will be linked on this page no later than Feb. 8th. 
  • February 8th, 2025 – Special District Candidate Filings and Voter’s Pamphlet filing portals will go live. Links to paper forms will be posted at this time. Note: Copies requested in our office cost 25 cents per page. 
  • February 10th, 2025 – Special District Candidate Filings and Voter’s Pamphlet paper filings will be accepted at the Elections office at this time. 
  • February 28th, 2025 – Last day to file SEL 805/Notice of Ballot Title to meet challenge period deadline. (District and County measures)
  • March 20th, 2025 – Deadline to receive Candidate Filings; deadline to withdraw previously filed candidacy.
  • March 20th, 2025 – Last day to file or withdraw Measure Filings and required Explanatory Statements. 
  • March 24th, 2025 – Last day to file Candidate Statements, Measure Arguments, and Statements of Endorsement for County Voter’s Pamphlet.

Candidate Filing Guide
May 20, 2025 Special District Election

Important dates:

  • Saturday, February 8th
    • Candidate filing forms/petitions may be submitted electronically
    • Candidate statements, photos, and endorsements for the County Voters’ Pamphlet may be submitted electronically
  • Monday, February 10th
    • Candidate filing forms/petitions accepted at Lane County Elections office
    • Candidate statements, photos, and endorsements for the County Voters’ Pamphlet accepted at Lane County Elections office
  • Thursday, March 20th
    • Deadline to file candidate filing forms, pay fees, or file petitions
  • Monday, March 24th
    • Deadline to file candidate statements, photos, statements of endorsements, and pay filing fees for the County Voters’ Pamphlet

Steps for filing successfully:

1.    Review the Oregon Secretary of State’s County, City, and District Candidate Manual.

2.    Review the Oregon Secretary of State’s Quick Guide for Transaction Filing.

3.    Review the Oregon Secretary of State’s Campaign Finance Manual.

4.    Confirm you meet the qualifications for the position you are interested in.

  • Because qualifications for candidacy – vary by district, we recommend contacting the district directly to confirm their qualifications.

5.   Prepare your candidate filing paperwork. Choose one of the following options:

  • To file electronically - (available February 8th, 2025)
  • To file at the Lane County Elections office - Oregon SEL 190

6.   If you would like to appear in the Lane County Voters’ Pamphlet, prepare your paperwork.

     Choose one of the following options:

  • To submit electronically - (available February 8th, 2025)
  • To submit at the Lane County Elections office – (available February 10th, 2025)

County Voters' Pamphlet

Lane County will produce a Voter’s Pamphlet for the May 20th, 2025 Special District Election. Our online filing portal will be made available on February 8th, 2025, but you can find links to instructions below.

 

Candidate participation is optional. Please review the instructions for VP-01 if you would like to submit a candidate statement.  

 

All measures filed for the May 20th, 2025 election must be accompanied by an explanatory statement to be published in the voter’s pamphlet. Please review VP-05 (Districts and Cities) or VP - 05 (County) for instructions on explanatory statements.

 

Arguments for and against measures will be accepted once explanatory statements have been received. Please review the instructions for VP-03 if you would like to submit a measure argument.

 

Note: Each endorsement (name of individual or organization) listed in submitted measure arguments and candidate statements must be supported by a Statement of Endorsement. These must be submitted by the candidate or argument filer, but they are completed individually by the endorser. If using the online portal, the statement is routed via email to the candidate and then they submit it with their statement. Please review the instructions for VP-02.


 

Important Dates:

  • New Voter Registration Deadline - The deadline to register to vote is April 29th, 2025 to receive a ballot for the May 20th Special District Election.
  • Current Voter Deadline to Update - You may update your voter registration until 8 p.m. Election Day, May 20th, 2025, and receive a ballot.
  • Ballots are mailed to:
  • Military and overseas voters on April 5th, 2025; and
  • Local and out-of-state voters on May 1st, 2025.
  • Ballot Drop boxes open on May 1st, 2025.
  • The last day our office will mail ballots to voters is Thursday, May 15th, 2025. After this date, ballots must be picked up in person at Lane County Elections.
  • Election Day is Tuesday, May 20th, 2024.
  • County Voter’s Pamphlet mailed on April 28th, 2025. 
  • Election results will be certified on June 26th, 2025.
