Vacancies

The Poverty and Homelessness Board is currently recruiting for the Lived Experience Advisory Group for Unhoused Engagement (LEAGUE).  Please read below:

VACANCY NOTICE

Vacancy Posting: Lived Experience Advisory Group for Unhoused Engagement (LEAGUE)

Date: April 30, 2021

The Lived Experience Advisory Group for Unhoused Engagement (LEAGUE) is an advisory group to the Poverty and Homelessness Board (www.LaneCounty.org/PHB). LEAGUE aids in the work of the Poverty and Homelessness Board’s Strategic Plan and accompanying projects.

As this is meant to be a group consisting of those with lived experience, please pass this along to consumer councils, tenant leadership councils, consumer advisory committees, or encourage those with lived experience to apply.

Vacancies: LEAGUE is currently seeking up to 3 new members, with at least of them representing rural Lane County (residing in or significant life experience living in rural Oregon/Lane County, outside of the Eugene/Springfield metro area). Individuals who are currently experiencing or have recently experienced homelessness are strongly encouraged to apply.

LEAGUE’s Objective: Create and maintain an advisory group made up of individuals who are experiencing, or have formerly experienced homelessness, the purpose of which is to:

1. Advise the Poverty and Homelessness Board on projects related to its mission and strategic plan from the perspective of current and formerly homeless individuals.

2. Provide expertise of those with lived experience and gain feedback from those who are currently engaging, or have previously engaged, with the homeless service system in Lane County.

3. Advocate for the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Lane County and ensure a strong voice of those with lived experience is represented in all aspects of the Poverty and Homelessness Board.

This group consists of no less than 100% homeless or formerly homeless persons. Efforts will be made to capture a diversity of membership and experiences including, but not limited to: past or current engagement with various types of housing and services; race, ethnicity, and cultural background; youth; domestic violence; geographic diversity, and people with disabilities. The workgroup meets regularly and as needed and works on special agenda items. Their work plan includes both short- and long-term action items.

This group meets monthly on the first Friday of the month in the afternoon, with occasional additional meetings throughout the year. Meetings are currently being held virtually via GoTo Meeting platform.

Individuals submitting an application may be asked to participate in a brief interview with current members of the Advisory Group.
