Volunteer

Volunteer with us! - Lane County Parks Need Your Help

We are looking for volunteers who are dedicated to our parks system. Volunteers play a vital role in helping maintain our beautiful parks, trails and open spaces so wide spread throughout the county. We have many different opportunities depending on your interest, skill level and time commitment. We have year round opportunities for almost every interest, schedule and ability. Your level of commitment is up to you! As a volunteer, you can sign-up for our one day events, short-term experiences, or become a long-term volunteer.

What can I expect when I volunteer?

We will provide tools and safety instruction. Also there will be opportunity to meet neighbors and fellow residents of Lane County. Volunteer events will range in our parks along the river, natural areas and neighborhood parks and day use areas of our campgrounds. Also, volunteers donating 10+ hours each year are eligible for a complementary annual Lane County Parks parking pass valued at $40.

Adopt-a-Park

This program is a collaborative effort between Lane County residents and county government to improve and maintain our parks.  For more information, check out the Adopt-a-Park website.

See our volunteer calendar for upcoming work parties.

Howard Buford Recreation Area (HBRA)

Lane County Parks manages HBRA in partnership with two non-profit organizations: the Friends of Buford Park and the Mount Pisgah Arboretum. Each of these organizations has regular volunteer opportunities.

  • The Friends of Buford Park focuses on restoration, conservation and stewardship and volunteers are needed for habitat restoration, working in the nursery, trail maintenance, flood plain restoration, as "Parkwatch" Ambassadors, in the office and for special events. Visit their volunteer webpage to learn more about days and times, then sign up to volunteer with Friends of Buford Park.
  • Mount Pisgah Arboretum focuses on engaging people with nature through interactive learning and stewardship. Volunteer opportunities are available to teach children about nature, remove invasive plants and maintain trails within the Arboretum management area of HBRA. Volunteers can learn more by visiting the Arboretum volunteer webpage.
