Why the Changes?

Lane County Parks has leased Baker Bay Park from the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) since at least September 27, 1976. The existing wastewater system, evaluated as Poor to Fair during the recent Facility Condition Assessment, requires immediate attention. With funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), we are addressing system deficiencies, guided by Civil West Engineering Services.

Recurring pipe failures during the assessment process necessitated the temporary shutdown of the pressurized pipeline, leading to the indefinite closure of flush restroom and shower facilities. Portable restroom facilities will be available during this time. Once the technical assessment is finalized in early 2024, Civil West will begin design and engineering work for a long-term wastewater solution.

Future Improvements:

We are confident that these improvements will support camping and recreation at Baker Bay for years to come. Additionally, site improvements funded by the local option levy passed in 2022 are in the planning stages.
