WHAT IS MEDIATION?
Mediation is a confidential way for parents to discuss their differences and resolve disputes with the help of a neutral professional. The mediator does not decide who is right or wrong. Instead, the mediator helps all participants reach their own agreements.
IN WHAT WAY IS MEDIATION CONFIDENTIAL?
Confidentiality in mediation means that mediation communications and proposals are protected by law from being considered by a judge if mediation does not lead to an agreement.
HOW DO WE QUALIFY FOR OPEN ADOPTION MEDIATION?
If you are involved in an active case with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you must make a request to DHS. If DHS is not involved, please contact our office directly.
WHAT DOES OPEN ADOPTION MEDIATION COST?
DHS covers mediation fees for those involved with that agency. Otherwise, Open Adoption Mediation costs $150 per 90-minute session. The participants decide how this fee will be shared among themselves.
