Equity in Purchasing and Procurement

Social Equity in Purchasing and Procurement

Lane County recognizes that minority and women owned businesses and emerging small businesses are significantly under-represented and have been historically underutilized on County contracts.  We are committed to working to remove barriers and increase access to Lane County contracting opportunities for all business owners
.

The purpose and intent of adopting a strong and healthy Equity in Purchasing and Procurement program is to provide opportunities for increased participation by emerging small businesses and businesses that are owned and controlled by minorities and women owned and to ensure that the County contracting practices do not support discrimination in employment and services when the County procures professional consulting, goods and services from the private sector.

Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE) and Emerging Small Business (ESB) certifications are for businesses seeking contracting opportunities for state, county and city government and special jurisdiction (e.g., hospitals and universities) contracting opportunities. Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program (DBE) certification is for businesses seeking contracting opportunities on federally funded transportation related projects. Lane County encourages and directs qualified businesses to gain certification as a MBE, WBE, ESB and/or DBE through the state's Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity.
