Civil Ceremonies are currently unavailable until 2025. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Please stay tuned for updates.
A Civil Ceremony is legal function of the County Clerk’s office to solemnize marriages. In Oregon, a ceremony of some kind is required to make your marriage official. A Civil Ceremony is a low-cost, secular option.
- Fees: The fee for a Civil Ceremony at the Clerk’s Office is $117. This will be due at the time of service. It can be paid by cash, check, money order, or credit card (with a 3% processing fee).
- Timing: Each ceremony is given a 30-minute time slot to finalize your license paperwork, pay your ceremony fee, and have the Clerk solemnize your marriage. If you arrive late, your appointment may be canceled. We are not able to delay your ceremony to accommodate late-arriving guests.
- Witnesses: You must bring 2 witnesses for your ceremony. Our office does not provide witnesses.
- Guests: You may have up to 10 guests attend your ceremony. There is limited space in the Clerk’s Office, and no public restrooms or private spaces available.
- Marriage License: You must have a valid marriage license that is effective for the date of your ceremony. If you purchased your license from another county, or have your license, you must bring it to your ceremony appointment. If you have not purchased a license before 4:00 p.m. on the Friday before your ceremony, your ceremony will be canceled.
- Cancelations: If you miss your appointment or cancel your ceremony within a week of your reserved date, there will be a $11.00 marriage license replacement fee.
