October 2024 Equity Article

We have to build unity among ourselves, and that means all of us working together.” - Larry Itliong

During the month of October, there are various monthly observations to highlight! We call attention to the closing of Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15)), Filipino American History Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While these observations occur this month, it does not minimize the need for awareness and support for these groups throughout the year!

  • Have you added the “LCInclusidates” calendar in Outlook? Add this calendar to viewing other multi-faith holidays and other observations taking place.
  • Check out our Diverse Business Directory (DBD) to support Latinx, Asian American, and persons with a disability owned businesses in Lane County!

Equity Program Advisory Board (EPAB): Since last month’s update, we wanted to share that our members completed a virtual onboarding training in September, we held our first EPAB meeting on October 1st, and we look forward to our next quarterly scheduled EPAB meeting in January 2025. We have an amazing group of community members serving on this advisory board!

Recently had a working meeting to review the data from the employee survey that was recently distributed asking questions related to the competencies. We started to look at themes from the survey data and have another working session scheduled later this month.
